Campement rules

Version 2026-10-03, current version, applicable to orders placed on or after this date.
Le Campement is Cap Ailleurs' community space. These rules set out the conditions for access and use. They form an annex to the terms of use, whose definitions they share.
1. What the Campement is
A place for discussion among people considering the same question: a life project in Costa Rica. Members share field experiences, difficulties, discoveries and milestones.
2. What the Campement is not
- An advice desk. No message, including from the team, constitutes legal, tax, accounting, immigration, real estate, medical or financial advice.
- A marketplace. No sales, prospecting or service offers between Members or to third parties.
- A public space. Discussions are visible only to Members.
3. Access
Access is restricted to Members with active Cap Ailleurs access.
First access requires acceptance of these rules. They may be viewed at any time from the space.
Everyone uses the preferred name associated with their account. Multiple accounts, assumed identities and posting on behalf of a third party are prohibited.
4. Spirit of the space
Five principles, in this order.
- Good faith. We come to seek and contribute something, not to persuade or sell.
- Precision. A grounded experience, a place, a date and context are worth more than a generalization. “I obtained this, in this year, in these circumstances” helps; “it is easy” helps no one.
- Caution. Administrative, tax and immigration rules change. What was true last year may no longer be so. Distinguish lived experience from hearsay.
- Respect. Projects, resources and paces differ. Disagreement is useful; judging people is not.
- Discretion. What is shared in confidence here was entrusted to this circle.
5. Posting
Before posting, it is worth checking:
- that the question has not already been answered in the space;
- that the message is in the right area or thread;
- that statements of fact are distinguished from assumptions;
- that no third-party personal data are disclosed without agreement.
Be careful with your own data. Posts are read by other Members. Avoid revealing health status, detailed financial circumstances, administrative documents, login credentials or a precise address.
6. What is prohibited
The following are prohibited in the Campement:
- insulting, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory or harassing statements;
- incitement to violence, glorification of crimes and distribution of unlawful content;
- disclosing a third party's personal data without their agreement;
- publishing protected content without holding its rights, including Cap Ailleurs' own content;
- commercial prospecting, advertising, referrals and seeking customers or investors;
- encouraging circumvention of administrative, tax or immigration rules, or distributing methods to deceive an authority;
- presenting personal opinion as qualified professional advice;
- repeatedly contacting other Members by private message after refusal;
- automated collection of content or contact details;
- capturing, recording or rebroadcasting discussions outside the Campement.
7. Confidentiality between Members
What is said in the Campement stays in the Campement. Reproducing a message, screenshot or statement outside the space, including on social media and even anonymized, is prohibited without its author's agreement.
This rule does not prohibit reporting unlawful content to the competent authorities.
8. Member Content
Each Member retains ownership of and responsibility for what they publish.
By publishing, they grant Levis Global LLC the limited technical license described in article 9.2 of the terms of use, strictly what is necessary to display and operate the space.
The Publisher does not review posts before publication and has no general monitoring obligation. It intervenes upon a report or when it becomes aware of manifestly unlawful content.
9. Reporting
Any Member may report content using the designated feature or at contact@levisfamilyadventure.com.
A useful report specifies the content's location, date and reason. Reports are handled diligently; the reporter is informed of the outcome.
Manifestly abusive reporting or repeated bad-faith reporting is itself a breach of these rules.
10. Moderation
Moderation is handled by the Publisher. Measures are graduated and proportionate:
| Situation | Measure |
|---|---|
| minor or isolated lapse | reminder of these rules |
| content contrary to the rules | content removal, with notice to its author |
| repeated breach | temporary suspension of Campement access |
| serious or persistent breach | permanent exclusion from the Campement |
| serious breach of the Terms of Use | account suspension or closure, article 12.2 of the Terms of Use |
Content removal or an access restriction is notified to its author with reasons, except where this information could jeopardize an investigation or people's safety.
Challenge. Any moderation measure can be challenged by replying to contact@levisfamilyadventure.com within thirty days. The challenge is examined by someone other than the initial decision-maker where the organization allows, and receives a reasoned response.
Exclusion from the Campement does not in itself cause loss of access to other Cap Ailleurs content and does not entitle the Member to a refund.
11. Leaving
A Member closing their account loses Campement access.
Earlier posts may be retained anonymously to avoid making threads to which others contributed incomprehensible. The Member may request their actual deletion at contact@levisfamilyadventure.com ; replies by other Members, which belong to them, remain.
12. Changes to the rules
These rules may evolve with the community. Any material change is announced in the Campement and by email before taking effect.
13. Personal data
Campement-related processing is described in article 4.5 of the privacy policy.
